Application Process

The College is primarily an academic institution so academic merit is one of the important selection criteria. However, Whitley College is also a home and a close community, so a tolerant attitude and willingness to participate in College activities are also important.

We do cater particularly for students living outside of Melbourne. Each year, Whitley College receives many more applications than we have places to give. Early application is crucial.

How To Apply

The first stage is to complete an application form. If you wish to obtain a copy, you can contact the College and we will send one to you. Our contact details can be found here. Alternatively you can visit the How do I Apply? page for the residential colleges of the University of Melbourne.

Note that it is important that you get your application in as early as possible (mid-August onwards) as the number of applicants far exceeds the number of available places. Do not wait for your VCE or university results before applying.

After applications are received, you are required to attend an interview with the Warden. If there are problems of distance then special arrangements can be made. Offers of accommodation will be made after university offers are made.
