About the Library
Whitley College's Geoffrey Blackburn Library has only been operational since mid 2001. The new library plays a vital role in the academic and community life of the College. It offers combined facilities for all staff and students, both residential and theological. The library's objectives support the overall mission of the College which is to "equip men and women for leadership and service in church and society". The Library aims to:
- Acquire, organise and maintain resources in the fields of biblical studies, systematic theology, church history, missiology, pastoral theology and related areas.
- Acquire resources for residential students to support a variety of academic disciplines.
- Acquire and preserve resources on the history and current state of the Baptist Church within Australia and internationally.
- Support the teaching programs of the Evangelical Theological Association, providing for the information, reference and research needs of faculty, undergraduate and postgraduate students.
- Promote resources and facilities available in the library and instruct faculty, students and members of the wider College community in their effective and efficient use.
- Maintain an active library committee to assist the librarian with library policy and decision making.
